Weird people?
Is the IP address that is shown the IP of the person who wrote the message? If so, that means the same person is making messages on my site under several different names! What can I do about that?

Inappropriate?Echo reports the IP of the poster. IPs are unique to commentators, USUALLY, there are exceptions (depending on how they are set up, some corporations and universities have their firewall set up so that it looks like everybody has the same IP to those on the outside).
But in most cases, what you are describing sounds like a sock puppet infestation. Echo allows you to ban sock puppets, either on the page their postings appear via the "moderation" link, or from your js-kit dashboard.

Inappropriate?Looking in the dash board, I can not seem to find this banning of sock puppets. Is that because I use the free version?

I just looked at my free account, off the moderate link I have a "Block this commenter" and "Block commenter's IP" options, so it should work for you too. I have the live version on another site, not sure if that makes a difference...it shouldn't
