Comments counter shows Zero
My comments counter is showing zero on all posts again. For at least a week, this happens about 50% of the time the page is refreshed. Nothing at all this morning. Also, I have not been able to view comments in the dashboard in several days. www.joemygod.com

Inappropriate? My comment counter just keeps changing from "0" to "n" to "0". Lather, rinse, repeat.

Inappropriate?Hi Joe,
We are having some scale hiccups at the moment which is causing the comment counter to time out more often than not - we are working on this issue right now - I don't have a time frame for a fix yet though.
Very sorry for the inconvenience

I'm a bit confused. It seems the page loads with 0 comments on the counter. Should I not expect the page to load with an accurate comment count?
Thanks. -
Inappropriate? The number of comments on a post don't show up in blogger, or my blogger account anyway....I don't quite know what may be corrupted?

Number of comments, how to show them......

Yes I'm sorry - it should have been marked as 'In Progress' - I've changed it now -
Inappropriate?I also have noticed that when I am not logged in as a moderator and I visit the front end of the site I sometimes see the comment count is LARGER than the number of comments visible. When I log in as a moderator I see that it is counting all the unapproved messages as well as the approved ones.

Inappropriate?Update from the dev team: we have a possible fix that should improve the behavior of the Counter. It's currently ready to be released, it's marked as high priority. Hopefully between tomorrow and end of the week.
eoneill, not sure if this will also resolve your issue with discrepancy between the number of comments seen when logged-in and logged-out. will need you to check once this is released. -
Inappropriate?I am seeing "0" display as a comment count on my home page http://fixedingreenpoint.com/ If you look at the post "All City Trick Comp 2009 From BikeJerks" on the home page the count is "0" But there are in fact Echo comments. At least 1. See Echo count on post here http://fixedingreenpoint.com/2009/08/...

I still have .5 second latency, but the numbers are at least showing up.
It just doesn't seem right to load the page with a count of 0 and wait for the call to be answered with the actual count. Loading no number at all would be better. Maybe I'm being nit-picky. -
Thanks Jimi for the feedback. we are considering your suggestion not to show "o comments" while loading. We will find something more appropriate.
Thanks again -
Inappropriate?I thought it was fixed on mine, but I noticed tonight on IE8 that every now and then the comments still say zero. For the most part, however, it's loading. The one time it didn't may have been a fluke.

Thanks for the input. I checked on ie and Firefox and they load correctly on your page. I'll take note and talk to the dev team to see if there is additional optimization that can be done. Let us know if you continue to see the issue on a regular basis. Also, we are also planning to not show "0" until the counter is done counting. That should also help. -
I think mine keeps loading an old cache copy maybe. If I do Control-F5, it loads a number. I've noticed to on IE8 it will say done, but then a few seconds later it loads something else and says done again On the second done, it appears to load the number.
Maybe I should start running CCleaner or clearing out the cache every day. -
Inappropriate?I'm having this issue on a wordpress site I help manage - everything shows up fine on individual post pages, but on the homepage, all the comment counters show 0.

Inappropriate?I can only smile at the irony of our mutual fear of the day with your latest blog post... "We start at zero."
I'll pass the info to the dev team to check why the counter show "0" on your home page. -
Inappropriate? This problem has arisen again on my site: http://www.liverpool-kop.com
Why can't this be fixed? It is costing me visitors and debate on my site.

Please have a look on a screenshot, the comment count showing up on the home page of your site as well. Also see the similar topic: Comment numbers aren't updating on posts

Please clarify: do you have a problem with comment counters only? or do you have a problem with comment form too?
